By putting a spin on modern hit songs done in a 20s jazz, cabaret, rock’n’roll style, this six-person mega group is a blend of nostalgia and modern tongue-in-cheek-wit, and stay true to the gleeful spirit of smothering the surface of the globe with great music.
Over the 21 years in this industry from Hollywood to Hong Kong, The Canadian songtress Janaia has performed all genres of music and toured across the globe performing in musicals namely HairSpray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors, The Wiz etc, with orchestras, major label recording studios such as Sony, Warner, EMI and 5 star hotels as a house regular. With experience in Soul, Jazz, RnB, Funk, Musical Theatre, Top 40/Dance, Opera, Reggae Tone and recently 70's Hard Rock, Janaia also possesses a unique five-octave range. Working with Musical Theatre and acting give shape to her unique performance style. Her disarming comfort on stage will take her listeners on a journey of honey tones and probably give you goosebumps.
A Philadelphia, USA, trained musician, versatile in a vast array of discipline in music, from the Saxophone, Flute to African and Latin percussions, Griffe Saunders is a gifted gem who was first discovered in 1985 by Chubby Checker (member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and inventor of “The Twist”). Upon over 20 years of touring with Chubby, Griffe eventually find himself most at home in Hong Kong. Griffe is a multi-instrumentally capable and talented performer. He is also an arranger and transcriber of music, formerly engaged as a repairer of ethnic instruments at Hong Kong University. And, also as an arranger for several recording projects.
Callum is a saxophonist and flutist currently based in Hong Kong. Studied with Marshall MacDonald (Count Basie Big Band) and Peter Andersen (Gerry Mulligan Big Band) before attending Berklee College of Music. He has played at numerous jazz clubs around Hong Kong, including Orange Peel and Backstage, where he regularly appears on Sundays with The Wong Way Down. He recently played at Hong Kong's Clockenflap festival with singer-songwriter Jing Wong and punk rock band OWK, and at the Hong Kong International Jazz Festival with The Wong Way Down.
Born in Nantes, France, Antoine started learning music theory, the piano and the saxophone at the age of 8, and when he turned 14 the guitar became his main instrument. Antoine performed as a guitarist in various Rock Bands, choirs, Big Band, Jazz quintets and sextets in France. After studying for three years in Jazz-a-Tours, a prestigious school in the Center of France. Antoine’s music then evolved towards Gypsy Jazz, which he further dedicates time and passion in forming the Gadjo Station collective Gypsy Jazz Band in Hong Kong.
Justin is a multi-disciplinary musician who can feel equally at ease on the band stand in a cozy jazz club, in the cello section of a symphony orchestra, or on the conductor podium for his original Orchestra Jazz. Being one of the most sought after instrumentalists, Justin has vast involvement in different genres, from Canton pop, big band swing, cutting edge arts, electronic music, musical theatre, to many international and local music productions. His biggest passion is conducting and arranging music for large ensembles. Pioneering in music he coins Orchestral Jazz and has been garnering wide acclaim for this sensational performance.
A versatile and high in demand drummer, Antonio Serrano Jr. has had the pleasure of working with many renowned artists in town. Highlights include working with legendary producer Chris Babida recording albums with artists Lily ChenLana Lo, Elisa Chan, and Kristal Tin. Apart from partnership and performance in entertainment Antonio has also worked with producer Marvin Querido in presenting the Philippines' Duo Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby’s Hong Kong concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Working in a classical setting, Antonio performed under the baton of Gerard Salonga and The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a record producer, composer and arranger Antonio has produced the album “ Colors of Suzan ” with Joey Villanueva and Suzan Guterres which includes his composition, “He Knows Me”. Antonio is currently the Musical Director for His Sanctuary Hong Kong and was also the Musical Director for Miss TV Carpio 's “Jazz Night Concert”.
